Goals
and Technique
SwimAmerica is a goal-driven and technique-oriented program.
Each level has well-defined skills. When a child masters specific advancement
goals, he or she is ready to move to the next level.
From
the very first lesson, we focus on teaching proper stroke technique.
Children who have gone through
the program acquire the correct mechanics for swimming
effectively in future endeavors, like the variety of water sports available
in our area. Coaches are thrilled to gain a swim team member who learned
to swim
at SwimAmerica.
Water
Safety
Water safety is an important part of the program. Early
on, children are taught to “roll over and float.” This
is a necessary skill in case of a water emergency. “Roll over
and float” is reviewed at every lesson. While SwimAmerica students
receive only the highest quality instruction, it’s important
to remember that no child is ever water safe unless supervised by
an adult at the water’s edge.
Weekly
lessons
Our program is based on “perpetual” registration. This means your
swimmer takes a 30-minute lesson on a specific day and time, once a week – for
as many months as you wish to continue lessons. (If you want your child in
lessons more than once a week, you can register for more days/times.) Why do
we believe in this approach?
- We’ve
always said swimming is a process; we’re now finding that a weekly encounter over time is more successful than a “crash” course
of a couple weeks in the summer. Many swim schools across the country
follow this approach for just this reason.
- You
pay for lessons monthly, so your payments are smaller and spread
over time instead of having to pay for an entire session – or
summer – all at once!
- Because
your monthly fee can be debited directly from your credit card
or checking account, payment is simple.
- Your
swimmer’s lesson time is yours until you decide to stop. No
remembering to call before a session, no standing in lines, and no
worries about losing your preferred time slot later in the season
if you don’t register early.
- Instructor
and class continuity is easier to maintain.
Rewards
and recognition
In addition to receiving a great swim lesson, children are rewarded with a “high
five” from their instructor and a visit to the treat basket. Stickers,
tattoos, beads, and an occasional candy treat are a highlight of their visit
to SwimAmerica!
Children
also look forward to “ringing the bell” when they graduate
to the next level. Parents, have your camera ready for this special
moment! Once they ring the bell, they’ll get a ribbon and gold
sticker for their graduation certificate to acknowledge their
accomplishment. They’ll also get an advancement card,
which outlines the skills they’ll learn in their new level. Parents
appreciate knowing what children will be mastering at each level in
the program.
